NFL Playoffs: Divisional Round Predictions
The Divisional Round of the NFL Playoffs begins this Saturday afternoon, and by the end of the weekend only four teams will be left standing. The Chiefs and Lions will each be playing in their first playoff game after earning a bye in the first round, while the Texans, Commanders, Eagles, Bills, Rams and Ravens will try to keep the momentum going after their wins last week.
For the sake of transparency, Precipice Sports went 3-3 in predicting the Wild Card Round. We got the Bills, Ravens and Eagles picks correct but guessed wrong on the Commanders, Rams and Texans. Here is how we think the Divisional Round will go:
1. Texans vs. Chiefs
Despite their 15-2 record and the first-round bye, this is the worst version of the Chiefs we've seen in years. 10 of those 15 wins were won by 7 points or less. The Texans looked great last week and they'll probably come out ahead in the early going of this game, but the magic that has gotten the Chiefs this far will last for one more week and they'll pull out a narrow victory in the end. When these two teams played each other back on December 21st, the Chiefs won 27-19. This one will be closer, but end in the same result.
Final Score: Chiefs win 20-17
2. Commanders vs. Lions
The Commanders are the feel-good story of the league right now, given their rapid turnaround powered by a group of rookies that are performing way above expectations. But the Lions are an absolutely stacked team that has great players at nearly every position and no real weaknesses to go after. This will be a great game, but the Lions will crush Washington's dreams in the end.
Final Score: Lions win 31-24
3. Rams vs. Eagles
The Rams utterly dismantled the Vikings last week, and did so in impressive fashion. Their defense is one of the youngest and cheapest units in the NFL but their first year defensive coordinator Chris Shula has his squad playing at a very high level right now. The Eagles are the better team, but they feel beatable right now and the difference in this one is going to come down to coaching. The Rams will pull off another surprise win here off a disciplined execution of their game plan and some trickery cooked up by Sean McVay.
Final Score: Rams win 24-21
4. Ravens vs. Bills
Here we have a game that might very well feature the winner and runner-up for this year's MVP award, we just don't know which one is which yet. The Ravens arguably have the best top-to-bottom roster in the AFC, but the Bills have the ability to go round-for-round with any team in this league. They don't always rise to the occasion, as we saw back in Week 4 when they took a big loss in Baltimore, but that was a long time ago and this time they're playing in Buffalo. They have what it takes to win this game. This is Buffalo's year.
Final Score: Bills win 28-21
