The Rookie Jar: Cam Ward

Image
Cam Ward was the first player selected in the 2025 NFL Draft, thanks to the Tennessee Titans and their immediate need for a quarterback. The path he took to become the top pick in the draft is one of the more remarkable stories to come out of this year’s rookie class. Back in 2020, he was a zero-star recruit as a senior in high school who only received one scholarship offer to play Division 1 college football. That offer wasn’t even from an FBS school. Despite this, he carved out a place for himself as a legitimate NFL prospect and has etched his name into the NCAA record books with his play over his 5 years in college. Here is everything you need to know about Cam Ward: Full Name: Cameron Anthony Ward Position: Quarterback Age: 22 (Will turn 23 by rookie season) Height: 6'2" Weight: 219 pounds Hometown: West Columbia, Texas Highest Accolade: 2024 Davey O’Brien Award (Best College QB) The Background Cam Ward was born and raised in the small town of West Columbia, Texas, approx...

The Rookie Jar: Travis Hunter

Image
Travis Hunter is one of the most highly anticipated NFL prospects in modern history. His ability to play both offense and defense at an extremely high level has not been seen in decades. He has consistently been one of the best receivers and one of the best defensive backs in whatever conference he played in, and his ability to play both sides of the ball for years while avoiding any major injuries has intrigued NFL teams. He is guaranteed to be drafted at some point in the first four picks of the 2025 NFL Draft. The Prospect Full Name: Travis Hunter Jr. Position: Cornerback and Receiver Age: 21 (will turn 22 by rookie season) Height: 6'0" Weight: 188 pounds Hometown: Suwanee, Georiga Highest Accolade: 2024 Heisman Trophy Winner The Background Travis Hunter was born on May 18 2003, in West Palm Beach, Florida. The Curious Case of the Combine Arm Length

Image
Something strange is happening with prospect measurements this year, particularly when it comes to arm length for offensive linemen. Offensive tackles face the most scrutiny when it comes to physical measurements because of their crucial role in protecting quarterbacks. NFL teams generally prefer their tackles to have an arm length of at least 34 inches, with 33 inch arms being good enough to get by. It is almost unheard of for a long-term NFL starter at tackle to have arms shorter than 33 inches long. However, multiple offensive linemen who have been measured twice during the pre-draft process have seen significant discrepancies between their numbers, larger than what has been observed in previous years.      At this year’s NFL Combine, scouts were eager to get official measurements on some of the top offensive line prospects, but the results raised more questions than answers. Many of the most desired tackles came in with shorter-...

2025 NFL Combine Recap - Quarterbacks

Image
The 2025 NFL Scouting Combine officially came to and end on March 2nd. Among the 15 quarterbacks in attendance, 13 prospects participated in the throwing drills, and 3 of them also participated in the usual circuit of general athleticism drills. Here is a recap of everything we saw from the quarterback prospects at the 2025 NFL Combine: As expected, Cam Ward did not participate in any drills at the Combine. For his measurements there were no major surprises, though his official height of 6 foot 1 and 5/8 inches and his hand size of 9 inches were both a bit smaller than expected. Otherwise, it was a quiet weekend for the man projected to be the first quarterback drafted this year. Shedeur Sanders did not participate in any drills either, but he made headlines with some of his interview answers. He responded to reports asking why NFL teams should draft him with confident answers that referenced his winning record at Colorado, his desire to change a team's culture, and having the sa...

2025 NFL Mock Draft #1 - Round 1

Image
With Super Bowl LIX in the books and the Combine still a few weeks away, it's officially Mock Draft season. Here is our first try at mocking the first round based on what we know so far:    As a quick disclaimer, these picks are not the same as our positional rankings. We make our mock drafts based on what we think the real NFL teams will do, not necessarily who we think would be the best player to select at that spot.  Round 1, Pick 1: Tennessee Titans -  Cam Ward (QB)   The Titans cleaned house this off-season and are now being run by general manager Mike Borgonzi and head coach Brian Callahan. There has been a lot of talk in the weeks since they were hired about "generational talent" and whether or not the Titans would be willing to pass on drafting a quarterback this year and build up the rest of the roster instead, but we believe this is mostly smoke to try and get another team to offer a trade. For the time being, we think the T...

I Have No Wins and I Must Draft (Part 10 - the Finale)

Image
(I Have No Wins and I Must Draft is our ongoing series that follows the 2025 NFL draft order and the players projected to be taken at the beginning of that draft. You can find all the previous parts, as well as a few supplemental articles about the 2025 NFL Draft  here ) Super Bowl LIX is less than one week away, and we now have enough information about the 2025 NFL Draft order to break down all 32 draft picks of the first round. We have gone over the first 25 picks already, but we will be revisiting those picks in the near future since there have been a lot of changes to the head coaches, general managers, or both roles for some of the teams picking near the top of the draft. For now, let's dive into the final 7 picks of Round 1: Pick #26: Los Angeles Rams The Rams are one of the more surprising teams around right now. Since going "all in" for a championship in 2021, they were expected to go through a few rebuilding years and slump through the post-Stafford era until the...
